Is the Royal Guard Uniform worth it in totk? ›

Updated August 24th, 2023: The Royal Guard Uniform in TOTK can be rather beneficial in the early game for players who are looking for a way to boost their overall defense. That said, finding the Royal Guard Armor in Tears of the Kingdom requires players to venture into the ominous Hyrule Castle.

The Royal Guard Armor might not like the most impressive armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but it's an easy — and cheap — way to keep Link safe early in the game. It offers no special bonus.

Other than that yeah Royal Guard armour is outclassed by Soldier armour. Champion's Leathers has 32 defense let you use Master Sword beams at any% health, not just at maxed. So does the Tunic of Memories, but that only has 28 defense. Royal Guard's set bonus grants Charge Atk.

To spare this duo, the protagonist must clean Royal Guard 02's armor, and interact with the Green projectile five times. At this point, Royal Guard 01's attacks become shaky and easy to dodge.
